Wild Bee Pollinators – with Salena Helmreich

On Monday, October 16, Salena Helmreich will be the guest speaker at the CV Hort. Society meeting. Salena will talk about pollination and pollinator, particularly from wild bees.

Salena grew up in southern Maine and graduated from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in Biology. She worked as a Pollinator Research Technician for conservation and restoration labs. Salena spent two years working as a Field Biologist in Denmark before starting her Ph.D. at Washington State University. Her research focuses on wild bee contributions to pollination in northern highbush blueberries in eastern and western Washington. Salena is interested in what surrounding landscapes can tell us about how wild bees interact with crops.
