January 17, 2022 Brian Minter – Gardening after the Pandemic

January 17, 2022

How the Pandemic, Dramatic Weather Challenges and the Millennial Generation have Changed the Why and How we Garden

BC’s very own gardening ‘Guru’, Brian Minter, will be the first Zoom presenter for the Comox Valley Horticultural Society on Monday, January 17th, at 7:00 pm.

As we enter 2022, the importance and the relevance of our gardens have shifted.  Gardening is now far more environmentally and wildlife-friendly.  Regenerative soil management and sustainable planting are the orders of the day.  In light of recent heat domes, choosing more heat and weather-tolerant plants is becoming essential.  To meet these challenges, new plants are emerging that are a better fit for today’s garden realities.

Brian’s gardening knowledge comes from decades of hands-on experience and running the Minter Country Gardens with his wife, in Chilliwack. BC. He continually researches the latest industry developments and consults with gardeners both locally and internationally. With a BA from UBC, Brian has recently been inducted into the Gardening Writers Hall of Fame and is a Master Gardener.  He is a regular columnist for the Vancouver Sun Newspaper, and is an open line host for CBC radio.
