Frank Hovenden – Outstanding Contributions 2021

On behalf of the Board of the Comox Valley Horticultural Society, we recognize one of our volunteers who has contributed to the CVHS in so many different ways.

As a member since 2009, Frank has volunteered in a number of Board and Committee positions.  He has helped out at our events and most recently hosted several of our virtual Garden Chores that have been filmed and posted to our Web Forum for all of our members to enjoy.

He has a lengthy resume with the Society.  Frank has been our Program Chair this past year, arranging for the varied and fantastic speakers we have enjoyed on Zoom.

A number of years ago, he held the position of Board Secretary, and for the past several years, Frank has been the Committee Chair for the Grow N’ Show table.  For those members who remember meeting in person, this table was the place where members could display their latest blossoms or arrangements or specimens for other members to enjoy.  You may also recall Frank’s remarkable Bonsai’s that he has created and brings in periodically for all of us to marvel at.

With a background in Forestry, spending time with Frank in the outdoors is always enjoyable, as his love of nature and his knowledge and respect for the land is evident at all times.  Frank focuses on finding solutions and involving others, which are great attributes for the leadership and community service he is involved with.

It is our pleasure to recognize, Frank for his outstanding volunteer contributions to the CVHS, all of which have contributed to the Society that we enjoy today.
