“What’s New in the World of Plants”

What's New in the World of Plants, with Brian Minter

Brian Minter, British Columbia’s very own go-to gardening expert, will be discussing new plant introductions and emerging trends such as the popularity of food gardens and the increasing interest in sustainable gardening, including environmental plantings, and pollinator gardens.

Brian’s gardening knowledge comes from decades of hands-on experience, researching the latest industry developments, and talking with home gardeners locally and from around the world.

Brian is a regular columnist and gardening open-line host with CBC Radio, a former guest commentator on the BBC’s open-line gardening show in Britain, an international speaker on gardening, garden tourism and business trends, and he continues to write a weekly gardening column for the Vancouver Sun Newspaper. Brian’s dedication and commitment to the gardening community locally, nationally and internationally has earned him many prestigious awards, including the Order of Canada (1990), the Order of Chilliwack (2013) and the Order of B.C. (2018). He has a BA from the University of British Columbia (1969), Honorary Doctorate of Technology, University College of the Fraser Valley (2001), and he is a Master Gardener. With his wife Faye, he is co-owner, since 1972, of Minter Country Garden Ltd., in Chilliwack, BC.
