Open Garden Tours for CVHS Members

Open Garden Tours feature the gardens of our Members, and occur periodically through spring, summer and fall. This year we are offering Virtual Open Garden Tours to enjoy during Covid-19.

In person Tours are usually announced in the Newsletter and via email notice. They are free of charge to members.

If you wish to offer your garden for a Virtual Open Garden Tour, please contact the Coordinator at events@comoxvalleyhortsociety.ca. We appreciate your hospitality!

Please note: To protect the privacy and security of our CVHS members who open their gardens for us to tour, we do not publish the addresses or directions to these gardens on our website.

Gael & Rick’s Garden, Comox

Gael & Rick have increased their curb appeal with the profuse blooms of dahlias along their front yard, and are encouraging birds, bees, butterflies, and tree frogs to inhabit their gorgeous garden. Herbs, edibles, and ornamentals mingle in a colourful Comox display.

Nina & Roy’s, Comox

Nina and Roy have created a garden that is a beautiful oasis for birds, bees and butterflies. With the help of Landscape Designer Karen Cummins, they have a gorgeous and productive space encircling their home. Using sustainable and organic gardening practices they produce an enormous amount of fruit and vegetables for themselves and to share. Native plant species are used throughout their garden to offer habitat and food for local wildlife.

Barb & Ron’s Garden

The winners of our first summer photo contest event, Garden Shrubs & Trees, give us a tour of their lovely garden. Large established shrubs, sumptuous weeping vines, and the arching and romantic Kiftsgate Rose that won them the contest.

Workshops

In the past, we have had workshops on pond building, hyper-tufa, flower arranging, how to use lavender, grafting, pruning…including a special pruning workshop for roses…and most recently, a workshop on Actively Aerated Compost Tea. Workshops are available to the public, with Members paying a reduced fee. All workshops are currently postponed due to Covid-19.
