Marika Ai-Li is a native bee conservationist with over a decade of experience leading wild bee pollinator education, stewardship and research initiatives. She was the founding vice president of the Native Bee Society of BC, and now works as a Restoration and Monitoring Manager with Project Watershed.
This workshop will focus on a single family of bees (Megachilidae) that nest in cavities. Participants will explore the life history of these important pollinators, with a focus on species commonly found in the Comox Valley. They will also begin to build their own bee-house out of recyclable materials to take home, and learn the basics on attracting nesting bees, providing habitat, pest identification and cleaning cocoons to support healthy populations.
This workshop is brought to you by the Comox Valley Horticulture Society (CVHS)
